If you’re planning to propose soon or have been on the hunt for the perfect engagement ring but just can’t seem to find what you’re looking for, we’re here to solve all your problems with our bespoke engagement ring guide! Shopping for the perfect engagement ring for someone who means so much to you can be a struggle, which is why creating something totally unique is an amazing option if you really want to wow your fiancé-to-be. But where do you begin, we hear you ask? It can feel like a bit of a minefield out there when it comes to designing your own jewellery, but here at Diamonds Factory we aim to take the stress out of that process by doing all the hard work for you, and just leaving the fun stuff when it comes to choices and styles down to you! So, to get you started on your jewellery journey, here are some of our top tips when it comes to designing a bespoke engagement ring.

Pull Inspiration from Various Different Places

Holding ring in hand

It may seem like a pretty obvious tip, but in our experience when customers create a bespoke ring, they often come to us with an idea or potentially one image of something they have in mind. We can absolutely work with this, and love to bounce ideas off with you to design exactly what you’re looking for, and having lots of little pieces of inspiration can be a big help during the initial stages so we can really home in on what you’re looking to create. We would recommend going to a few jewellery shops to physically browse engagement rings and also look on Pinterest and social media for inspiration. There are lots of jewellers that have a great presence on social media with pages full of different engagement ring designs and styles for you to browse through – including our own! Which you can check out here. Compile all your ideas together, and we can work alongside you to pull out little elements you love and want included in your own design.

Get Your Timing Right

A crucial part of the bespoke engagement ring process is getting your timing right, so you’ve got your full finished engagement ring well-ahead of the big proposal. Not only does this save you a lot of stress, but it also allows us to make sure everything is just perfect. We recommend leaving yourself at least 3 months from start to finish. Although we can turn around bespoke pieces in around 4-6 weeks, different stages of the bespoke process can take longer for various reasons. We create CAD designs of your ring before it goes into production for you to see your vision on-screen, and there may be changes you want to make to this beforehand so it’s exactly what you’re looking for. If you give yourself a 3-month timeline, you’re sure to have the ring in your hands well ahead of time.

The Little Touches

Setting a diamond in the ring

These may not necessarily be at the top of your list when designing a bespoke engagement ring, but those little touches really make their engagement ring extra special and show you’ve really put a lot of thought into going the extra mile. What exactly do we mean by little touches? From engraving their ring with something personal like the date you got engaged or with initials, to thinking ahead with what type of wedding ring they’d pair with it and making sure their engagement ring is designed to fit with that too – the possibilities really are endless with bespoke engagement rings. Those little additional touches show how much thought you’ve put into creating their perfect ring, and your partner will be forever reminded of that when they look down at their ring finger.

Always Keep Them in Mind

When creating a bespoke engagement ring, it can be easy to get carried away and start adding in certain elements that you like or love. You know your partner better than anyone so in most instances this will be fine, but it’s important to always keep your partner in mind as they’ll be the one wearing this ring forever. Always keep their style in mind so you don’t get lost in the process. Designing a bespoke engagement ring is all about merging what you and they both love, which can be incredibly overwhelming when you’re designing it alone to withhold the surprise. Remember to take the pressure of yourself, and keep in mind the end goal – designing something that symbolises your love for one another, as you enter the next chapter of you lives together.
